"The Bad and the Beautiful" (1952)

Yes, it's only "Citizen Kane" lite, but well worth seeing. Told in flashbacks, Kirk Douglas plays a Hollywood producer who's king of the backstabbers. Each of the people he's treated badly, a movie star (Lana Turner), a screenwriter (Dick Powell), and a director (Barry Sullivan), tell their version of getting stepped on by the cad. Very slick melodrama served up lushly by director Vincent Minelli and a fantastic David Raksin score.
