"My Name is Julia Ross" (1945) An offbeat noir thriller with Nina Foch (one of my all-time fave actresses), applying for a secretarial job with a wealthy family only to get drugged, kidnapped, and taken by them to their Gothic mansion by the sea. To reveal more would spoil the fun of this taut ingenue-in-peril suspenser as she tries to outwit her creepy captors. Helmed with style by cult director Joseph H. Lewis, this is a real gem.
