"Random Harvest" (1942)

Sometimes Old Hollywood got things so wrong they turned out so right. This high gloss MGM take on James Hilton's novel stars those two mega scene chewers Greer Garson and Ronald Colman. He's a WWI veteran who, yes, is suffering from that old hoary plot device, amnesia. She's the self-martyred dance hall girl(!) who nurses him back to sanity...but not before he forgets her too, WHEN HE COMES DOWN WITH A SECOND CASE OF AMNESIA. This is Grade A malarky but damned if you're not weeping by the final credits. Worth a look and a hoot.
