"The Seventh Victim" (1943) An engrossing horror/proto-noir thriller. A teenage Kim Hunter is searching for her missing older sister when the trail leads to a murderous devil worshipping cult in Greenwich Village. One of producer Val Lewton's famous and atmospheric chillers of the '40s, this one has some surefire spooks and haunting visuals. Definitely not run-of-the-mill studio fare.
