"Captain Blood" (1935)

In the history of Hollywood, no one buckled a swash better than Errol Flynn. This is his first starring role and one of his best. He's a 17th century doctor who gets sent to the Caribbean on a trumped up treason charge...as a slave! There he meets and falls in love with the enchanting Olivia DeHavilland (who's still alive at 95), and eventually becomes an infamous pirate. You get seabattles, swordfights, baddie Basil Rathbone, and Eric Wolfgang Korngold's glorious score...FORGET "Pirates of the Caribbean", this is the REAL THING.
