"Fallen Angel" (1945)

An intriguing noir melodrama. Dana Andrews is a ne'er-do-well drifter down to his last dollar. He lands in a small coastal town where he's caught between the bad girl he lusts for (dewey, delicious Linda Darnell) and the wealthy church organist (goody-goody but frumpy Alice Faye). The plan is easy, just swindle one and run off with the other...but someone ends up murdered. It's not easy being caught between heaven and hell. Terrific direction, moody atmosphere and another David Raksin melody/score. Very watchable.
